A man wanted by authorities in Santa Maria, California was arrested in the Desert Southwest. Mexicali Police have arrested Severiano Leon Flores. A judge in Santa Maria issued a warrant for his arrest. He is accused of committing a homicide back in November of last year. Police say he is a member of a very dangerous gang called "West Park." They believe the homicide is gang related and to avoid being prosecuted Flores fled to Mexico. Mexicali Police says Flores was also being investigated on drug trafficking charges. After his arrest the alleged gang member was turned over to authorities in California.

Caborca, Sonora April 6 Fiesta
Welcome back to scene of battle that ousted Americans
The U.S. government had no part in the invasion, which was crushed by the Caborca people after a week of shooting. Those mercenaries not killed in the fighting were executed, and their leader is said to have had his decapitated head placed in a jar of mescal.
For almost a century, Caborca has celebrated the victory in its annual Fiestas of April 6. The city's mayor, Dario Murillo Bolaños, stopped in Yuma recently to invite residents to this year's shindig, set for March 29-April 1 in the city located about two hours south of Lukeville.
Murillo has made the fiestas less a celebration of a battle and more a showcase of Sonora's arts and culture and the investment and recreational opportunities Caborca affords.
Maybe the Caborcans of 1857 wanted the Americans out, but today they want them to visit.

Ronald Ledesma loaded his grocery cart with nine bottles of Tide detergent and ran out of the store, authorities said. The 54-year-old man was in such a hurry to flee that he crashed his car into the back of an on-duty paramedic truck, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff's Department. 
Besides the shoplifting and hit-and-run investigation, the theft went largely unnoticed by investigators at the Orange County Sheriff's Department, but officials now believe it may be related to a nationwide trend of swiping detergent from shelves of markets. "I mean, it has law enforcement somewhat baffled," Amormino said.Law enforcement officials have a theory: ordinarily used for dirty laundry, the popular detergent is now being used by addicts looking to make some fast cash. "They're selling it on the street for five, 10 bucks," Amormino said. The trend has caught the attention of several law enforcement agencies across the country, after The Daily – an iPad publication – ran an article about the little-noticed trend.The Daily reported one West St. Paul, Minn., man who was allegedly found to have taken off with $25,000-worth of it. Law enforcement officials often see suspects with substance-abuse problems arrested on thefts and burglaries. Suspects are usually looking for items that can be quickly sold on the street and can generate enough cash to buy the illegal drugs.It is not immediately clear why Tide has been targeted recently, Amormino said. With the recognizable bright orange bottle, and slightly higher cost than most other detergents, officials believe a $20 bottle can be easily sold on the street for $5 or $10. "We don't know exactly where it's being sold," Amormino said.Sheriff's officials have since sent out an alert to other agencies in the county informing them of the possible trend, Amormino said. After the hit-and-run crash on Feb. 7, Ledesma was taken into custody, Amormino said.Deputies believe he was under the influence of methamphetamines during the crash. Ledesma is currently in custody and facing seven counts of second-degree burglary, driving under the influence, and suspected hit-and-run with injury. Court records show he has been previously convicted of vehicle theft and receiving stolen property in 1993, assault with a deadly weapon in 1999, and second degree burglary in 1993. He is currently being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Az. Bill to "immediately warn"
Leaders in some Arizona border communities have been stepping up their opposition to a bill in the Legislature that would require Arizona's Department of Homeland Security director to "immediately warn" the public about dangers involving illegal immigration, possibly in emails or in social media.
The bill, now in the House, was sponsored by Republican Rep. Peggy Judd of Willcox. She also represents Nogales and Rio Rico.
Judd says her bill is meant to clarify rumors and fears about immigration-related threats.
But the Nogales International reports that the bill has faced a steady outcry of protest from town leaders stretching from San Luis to Douglas who say their communities have already suffered too much from alarmist reports about the border.
Some of those leaders say the bill would damage tourism and economic development in the state.

An event Saturday in San Luis, Ariz., will allow area residents to apply for their U.S. passports.
The San Luis Post Office and U.S. State Department are jointly hosting the event as part of Passport Day in the USA 2012, a nationwide effort to help U.S. citizens seeking to get or renew passports needed to travel to Mexico and all other foreign countries.
The San Luis event will be 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the U.S. Post Office at 874 S. Main St.
The public will be able to file applications and pay passport fees, or simply get information about applying, said Diane Merrill, the San Luis postmaster. Also during the event, residents can have their photographs taken for their passports.
U.S. citizens are required to have a passport card when returning from Mexico to the U.S. through all sea or land ports. Passport cards also are needed when returning from Canada, the Caribbean and Bermuda through land or sea ports. A passport is required of U.S. citizens returning by overseas flights.
A passport costs $135, a passport card $55. Both are good for a decade.
