Saturday Oct 13, 2012 Household Hazardous Waste Drop Off For Yuma Residents.
The city of Yuma is hosting its quarterly Household Hazardous Waste
collection day Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the city's North Public
Works Yard, 265 W. 13th St. (13th Street between 4th Avenue and 1st
Avenue).
Open to all city of Yuma residents at no charge, the
Household Hazardous Waste program is the safest way to dispose of such
products as unwanted corrosive, flammable or toxic material used in your
home, car or truck, garden and lawn. In addition, it is an opportunity
to dispose of electronic waste such as an old television set or to
recycle cans, paper and other materials.
Items accepted at Saturday's drop-off include:
Motor oil Antifreeze Paint Solvents Household cleaners
Pesticides Fertilizers Batteries Tires (limit five; must be off the rim)
In addition, people can drop off electronic devices they no longer want, including:
Home computer components TV sets VCRs/DVD players Cell phones Home phones
People may also drop off aluminum cans, cardboard, paper, plastics, documents and shredded paper for recycling.
The
collection day is just for residential waste and is not open for
business or commercial waste or recycling materials. Other items that
aren't accepted are large household appliances, explosives or
ammunition, pressurized gas or radioactive materials.
The next Household Hazardous Waste collection day will be Jan. 12.
In
addition, recycling bins are available year-round for people to drop
off aluminum cans, metal, cardboard, paper and clear plastic. The bins,
13th Street at 2nd Avenue and at 45th Avenue and 17th Street, are open
24 hours a day seven days a week to all Yuma County residents.
