Recalls: Costco, Ikea, Kohl's, Macy's, Marshalls
Seven companies are recalling various products sold at several
retailers including Costco, Ikea, Kohl's, Macy's, Marshalls, Overstock,
Williams-Sonoma, QVC, T.J.Maxx, Lowe's, Bed Bath & Beyond, JCPenney,
Office Max, Toys"R"Us and Amazon, according to recent reports from the
U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
iSi North America is
recalling about 162,700 Twist'n Sparkle home beverage carbonation system
plastic bottles. "The firm is aware of nine incidents involving
exploding plastic bottles including three in which consumers received
cuts to various parts of their upper body," according to CPSC. The
bottles, made in Austria and Hungary, sold at Williams-Sonoma, QVC and
elsewhere from June 2010 to March 2012 for about $50 for the starter set
and $30 for the bottle set.
Bath Petals is recalling about 1,600 soy candles in the U.S. "The firm
has received one report of a candle burning with a high flame and
shattering the glass holder," according to CPSC. The candles, made in
the U.S., sold at T.J.Maxx and Marshalls from February 2012 through
April 2012 and elsewhere for about $10.
Long Beach-based Alltrade Tools is recalling about 45,000 Kawasaki
cordless drills. " The trigger switches can short and generate excessive
heat," according to CPSC. "Alltrade Tools has received 33 reports of
incidents, including one minor burn injury." The drills, made in China,
sold at Costco stores nationwide from May 2011 through February 2012 for
about $50.
Homewerks Worldwide is recalling about 68,000 Harbor Breeze bath fans
with heater and light. "The firm has received 11 reports of the fan
overheating with smoking or flames within the fan housing, including
three reports of minor property damage," according to CPSC. The fans,
made in China, sold at Lowe's stores nationwide and on the retailer's
web site from September 2010 through March 2012 for about $90.
Foothill Ranch-based Innovage is recalling about 300,000 Discovery Kids
animated marine and safari lamps. "Innovage has received 11 reports of
short circuiting," according to CPSC. "This includes three reports of
lamps catching fire, which led to property damage." The lamps, made in
China, sold at Bed Bath & Beyond, JCPenney, Kohl's, Office Max,
Toys"R"Us, Amazon, Macys.com, Overstock and elsewhere from June 2010
through March 2012 for between $10 and $20.
Ikea is recalling about 5,000 track lighting systems in the U.S. "The
ground connection in the track is defective, posing an electric shock
hazard," according to CPSC. The track lighting, made in China, sold at
Ikea stores nationwide from September 2011 through March 2012 from $15
to $20.
Robert Bosch Tool Corp. is recalling 22,149 Miter saws. "The lower guard
can break and contact the blade during use, posing a laceration hazard
to users," according to CPSC. The saws, made in China, sold at Lowe's
and elsewhere from January 2012 to April 2012.
