CBP Agent Found Guilty

Calexico--A former U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer is found guilty of conspiracy and bribery.
Oscar Osvaldo Ortiz Martinez worked as a CBPofficer at the Calexico Port of Entry until September last year, when federal authorities arrested him and an accomplice.
The arrest came on the heels of a sting operation by undercover agents and other law enforcement agencies.
The agents posed as drug traffickers and offered Martinez bribes to allow, what he though were large shipments of illegal narcotics to pass through his assigned lanes.
Martinez's accomplice, Victor Manuel Silva Junior, set up the meetings between Martinez and the agents posing as traffickers.
He was arrested when he met undercover agents to pick up $30,000 dollars in bribe money.
According to the Department of Justice, Martinez faces a mandatory 10 year sentence on the drug charge alone.
He is scheduled to be sentenced in November.
