Robert C. Nelson was an agent assigned to Yuma.
The name of the female victim has not been released. However, the U.S. Border Patrol has confirmed with News 13, 36-year-old Robert C. Nelson an agent assigned to the Yuma Sector is the male involved in the murder suicide. They say he was not on duty at the time of the incident.
YCSO says A 11 to 12 year old girl was also found inside the home. They said she was sleeping when they found her and has no injuries. Capt. Bratcher said "we removed her from the residence and enlisted the help of Amberly's Place and a victims advocate to help us care for her while we find family we can release her to." Sources say the child is autistic and officers say the female victim is the mother.
News 13 went knocking on several neighbors' doors to see if they saw or heard anything, but many of them were not home or didn't feel comfortable going on camera. Nearby neighbors who chose not to go on camera say this is a very quiet neighborhood and waking up this morning to police cars everywhere is completely out of the norm. The Yuma County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate.
